What Ohioans Need to Know about Issue 1

  • Ohio is 1 of the 10 most gerrymandered states in the country because politicians are in charge of drawing voting districts, and they manipulate them to benefit themselves.
  • In fact, politicians’ maps have been ruled unconstitutional 7 times.
  • Issue 1 will ban politicians and lobbyists and create an open and transparent process with checks and balances, led by citizens, to draw fair and impartial voting districts.
  • The corrupt politicians will do anything to stay in power – including trying to trick voters with lies on your ballot itself about Issue 1. Don’t fall for it. Vote Yes on Issue 1.

Description of Issue 1 on your Ballot is Misleading

Issue 1 gives citizens -- not politicians -- the responsibility for creating Fair Districts. The Ohio Supreme Court agrees the language is misleading, but a majority of the judges approved it anyhow.

Election Protection Volunteers Needed

Our Election Protection program is nonpartisan and not affiliated with any campaign or party.

We recruit and train volunteer poll monitors who do not enter the polling place, except in limited circumstances. As a nonpartisan poll monitor, you will stand (or be in a car) outside of the polling places, reporting any problems you see and helping ensure voters know their rights, report and solve issues that arise at the polling places.

We also maintain voter assistance hotlines in multiple languages to connect voters with trained, legal assistance:

150,000+ inactive Ohio voters could be purged before election

The Ohio Secretary of State's office has released the names of voters who could be removed from Ohio's voter database on July 22. This can happen when voters haven't participated in elections in the last 4 years or if they moved and didn't update their voter registration address. Occasionally, it might even happen as a mistake, so it's important to check no matter what.

Are you on the purge list? Better yet, verify that you are on the active voter list.

On the purge list? Here's how to reactivate your registration

You must be registered to vote by Oct. 7 to be able to vote on Nov. 5.
  • Confirm or update your voter registration at VoteOhio.gov, by mail or in-person at your local county board of elections.
  • Update or confirm your address with your county board of elections.
  • Submit an absentee ballot application.
  • Sign a candidate or issue petition that is verified by a board of elections.
